It's a very fine logo as an abstract logo and brilliantly distilled from a chinese coin, the first coin. A shape that encompasses so well the values that it implies.

Timeless it is!

Did not know the colour version. It is nice but it got dated. It works very well in monochrome. The original blue shade is nicer than the currently used color.

Chermayeff & Geismar's (then BC&G now CG&H) work is always inspiring.

The colour version was an interesting find, but super-limited in its application. Just found a couple examples. I think that multi-coloured approach ran counter to the pioneering abstract approach, and the same with the lined versions, not really need. Thanks for your comment, always nice to know people are engaged with the research.

Thanks Richard, I am indeed! I really appreciate your pieces. Logo design, at the high corporate level, seems like a gauntlet to run. The brilliance and skill of the designers really comes into play.
